 At Normanton Education we are experienced leaders of Special Educational Needs and have significant school improvement consultant experience in supporting SEND in both the mainstream and Special Schools. 

Inclusive schools enable everyone to thrive and reach their potential, regardless of background, abilities or need. Our special educational needs services and send training support leaders to create truly inclusive and equitable learning environments for all students and staff. 

SEND and Inclusion Services

We offer a wide range of education consultancy and school improvement services to support SEND and inclusion. We also work with school leaders to create bespoke packages of support and send training which meet your learners, staff and school needs, ensuring fully customisable solutions. 

 

Our Inclusion Services include:


  • Inclusion and SEND bespoke consultancy: We work with school leaders and teams to support you with personalised services to support your school improvement work to provide an excellent education for all.
  • Inclusive Culture Reviews: We work with leaders and stakeholders to measure the inclusivity of the school including the ethos, environment, curriculum, wider provision, leadership and as a workplace for your staff. 
  • SEND Reviews:  We assess the effectiveness of your SEND provision, including ethos, identification, assessment, support to learners and families, leadership, curriculum, teaching and learning, staff pedagogy and practice, and inclusive practices. 
  • Inclusive Practice Development: We support schools in developing and implementing inclusive teaching and learning strategies, such as adaptive practice, universal design for learning (UDL), and peer support.
  • SEND Support: We provide expertise in Special Educational Needs (SEND) identification, assessment, and support, ensuring that all students with SEND receive the appropriate level of support and SENCOs are professionally supported.
  • Staff Training & Development: We deliver high-quality training and professional development for teachers and support staff on inclusive practice, SEND, and diversity and equality.
  • Policy Development & Review: We assist schools in developing and reviewing their inclusion policies and procedures to ensure they comply with legal and best practice guidelines.

SEND and Inclusion Training and Professional Development

We have experience in designing and delivering high-quality, innovative special educational needs training and professional development to educational practitioners in the mainstream and Special Schools. We are also experienced speakers have spoken at national SEND events such as the Dyslexia Show, Royal College of Psychiatrists (CAMHS) conference (virtual) and neurodiverse events with City and Guilds. 


We can offer a range of training and development or can work with you to create bespoke training matched to your areas of need and key practices of your setting.

SENCO Supervision

Research shows the increasing demands and challenges on SENCOs, which are impacting on their mental health, morale and ability to effectively support learners, families and staff. It also shows that increasing supportive measures for SENCOs, such as through supervision, can provide a protective factor which not only supports wellbeing, but can aid professional development and performance. 


Supervision is a structured process where a SENCO meets regularly with a supervisor to discuss their work, reflect on their practice, and receive support and guidance. It's a collaborative process designed to enhance professional development, improve performance, and promote wellbeing. Benefits include:

Supervision is most effective as part of regular supportive arrangements. Our supervision sessions are typically one-hour long and are supported by supervisors who are experienced SENCOs and hold the National Postgraduate Certificate for Special Educational Needs Coordination.

SENCO Coaching and Mentoring

 New and established SENCOs can benefit from workplace support of coaching and mentoring, to aid their professional knwoledge, skills, judgements and support wellbeing.


 Our special educational needs coaching and mentoring services includes:

  • Individualised Coaching: One-to-one coaching sessions tailored to your specific leadership challenges and goals.
  • Mentorship Programmes: Access to experienced mentors who provide guidance, support, and challenge.
  • Leadership Development Programmes: Bespoke programmes designed to enhance leadership skills, such as strategic planning, change management, and communication.
  • Team Coaching: Support for leadership teams to improve communication, collaboration, and decision-making.
  • 360-Degree Feedback: Gain valuable insights into your leadership strengths and areas for development.
